2024 SCHOOL PHOTOS - important information
It's time to place your orders for this year's school photos!
Here are the scheduled dates for the 2024 school photos.
– Maternelle : 10/09
– Secondary : 12/09
– Elementary : 13/09
We thank you for ensuring that maternelle students come dressed in their school uniform on that day. As for elementary and secondary students, it is strongly recommended to wear a light or pastel top and dark bottoms to achieve harmonious photos.
We remind you that to receive your child’s class photo, it is essential to place your order before the evening of September 9. Only photos that have been ordered will be printed and distributed.

Sibling photos will be taken on the first-floor of the gymnasium in the new building according to the provided schedule. Please enter through the main entrance on Moverly Road and accompany your children to, during, and from the photo session.
Only secondary school students are allowed to stay unsupervised. However, they will not be permitted to supervise their siblings who are in primary school during the photo session without the presence of an adult.
Annual School Census in August
All schools in Australia are required by law to complete a census in August of each year.
The collected information is transmitted to the Department of Education and is used for statistical purposes. It is important to note that the data provided does not directly identify students or staff members. The census helps to better understand the needs of schools and guide educational policies.
The confidentiality of your information is a priority and is strictly upheld throughout the process.

Safety Rules: Parking
As the school year begins, we want to remind everyone of the safest and most efficient ways to drop off and pick up your children. If you don’t -yet- have a PhD in Australian Parkology, here’s a quick recap of NSW parking rules for our new LCS community members.
- No Parking means No Parking: You can stop for up to 2 minutes, allowing for a quick drop-off or pick-up without leaving your vehicle, helping to keep traffic moving.
- Kiss and Go! : Stay within 3 meters of your vehicle to ensure you can move it if needed, aiding traffic flow.
- Additional Parking:
Extra spots are available on the streets behind the school, including Ian St, Loch Maree St, and Holmes St, for those needing more time. - Maintain good relations with our neighbours: respect their access ways and park only in the spots designated by the council.
- Keep access ways, garages, and house entrances clear to ensure we don't inconvenience the residents, some of whom have lived across from the school for over 20 years.
NAPLAN
Please note that the 2024 NAPLAN results will be distributed to students next week. We will notify families on the day, so you can check your children’s bags.
Student NAPLAN reports will show the student’s result in each assessment area - writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.
The results are classified into one of 4 proficiency levels: Exceeding, Strong, Developing and Needs additional support.
Student achievement in NAPLAN is reported using proficiency standards for each assessment area at each year level. The standards are set at a challenging but reasonable expectation of what students know and can do at the time of testing.
There are 4 proficiency levels:
- Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
- Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
- Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
- Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes that are expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.
The proficiency level descriptions here describe some of the skills and understandings students can generally demonstrate at the time of testing. The aim of the descriptions is not to describe each individual student, but to provide a fair summary of typical skills and understandings for a student at the level.
At this point in time it is worth noting that the NAPLAN Proficiency Standards and the NSW Grades awarded in students’ academic reports are not aligned.
The NAPLAN Proficiency Standard describes how the student has performed against basic literacy and numeracy standards at a national level at the time of testing.
The NSW Grade in student’s academic reports (bulletins) describes student development against NSW syllabus outcomes throughout the trimester..

National Child Protection Week (NCPW) : ‘Every conversation matters’
National Child Protection Week (NCPW) is an annual initiative based on the principle that ‘protecting children is everyone’s business’. It aims to raise awareness about the complexity of child abuse and neglect. It also aims to empower the community to work together to prevent it.
National Child Protection Week (NCPW) will take place from 1-7 September in 2024.
This year, the theme is:‘Every conversation matters’
We can all play a part by talking to your neighbours, checking in with friends, being a good role model, supporting and being kind to parents , offering to assist where possible, and speaking up if you see something that is unsafe.
It is important that we listen to, and value, what children have to say. Where possible, include their voices in decision-making and be advocates for their best interest.
By speaking regularly with children about their personal safety and how they can protect themselves, as well as “tuning in” to their worries, children are more likely to trust us and feel comfortable to talk with us when something big is going on.
The National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) proudly hosts NCPW and has provided some free webinars and resources for parents and educators.

Canteen Menus for the Term : The cafeteria menus are now available for the entire term. Please note that there are two distinct menus: one for the kindergarten (mandatory cafeteria) and another for the other classes.
You can find the preschool menu below, and the menus for elementary and secondary school are available on Pronote.- Access to the Café for Secondary School Students Secondary school students have access to the Café located inside the LCS, near the canteen, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. Only card payments are accepted; no cash will be accepted on-site.

We will organise childcare only for children enrolled in the school during evening meetings, upon registration (details will be provided at the start of the school year).
