Farewell Message from Our Principal, Mr Nicolas L’Hotellier

Dear LCS community,

The end of each school year marks the conclusion of one chapter and the beginning of another. This year, the moment holds special significance for me, as this is the last editorial I am writing as Principal of Lycée Condorcet.

Each school year marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. This year, that moment holds special significance for me, as this is the last editorial I will write as Principal of Lycée Condorcet.

As I prepare to leave, what remains above all is a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude to all those who placed their trust in me over these past five years, and to a community that I have had the privilege of serving.

Driven by its success, the Lycée has grown remarkably, evolved, and confidently prepared for the next chapter of its history. Whether through the completion of the new building in 2022, the development of the 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, the Campus 2029 project, the expansion of our international programmes, or the strengthening of student support, each of these achievements is, above all, the result of a collective effort.

During the Lycée’s 60th anniversary celebrations, I spoke about the idea that each generation inherits a school before passing it on to the next. That image feels more meaningful than ever today. We are only temporary custodians, while the school continues its journey, sustained by its students, staff, families, and the values it upholds.

This momentum will continue in the years ahead. The foundations of Lycée Condorcet are exceptionally strong, the key projects are well underway, and I have every confidence that our teams will continue to bring them to life with the professionalism and dedication that define them.

I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Abdellatif Achiq, who will soon take up his role as Principal, and to Visal Kaing, our incoming Director of Administration and Finance. I wish them every success and am confident that they will find at Lycée Condorcet a warm, committed community that is deeply devoted to its school.

I would also like to say thank you. Thank you to our students, who give true meaning to our commitment every single day. Thank you to our teachers and all members of staff, whose professionalism, energy, and generosity bring this school to life far beyond the classroom. And thank you to our parents for their trust, their support, and their active involvement in the life of our school.

My sincere thanks also go to the Management Committee, the AEFE, our partners, and to everyone who, often behind the scenes, helps make Lycée Condorcet a place where it is a pleasure to learn, grow, and work.

Leaving a community that I have had the privilege of serving for five years is, inevitably, a very special moment. I do so with great emotion, but also with deep confidence in the future of Lycée Condorcet, supported by remarkable teams and a community whose commitment is truly exceptional.

If an exciting new opportunity now awaits me in Paris, I will leave Sydney with countless cherished memories, immense gratitude, and a deep affection for our beloved LCS and its wonderful community.

I wish you all a wonderful holiday. May this break give you the opportunity to rest, enjoy precious time with your loved ones, and return refreshed and ready to write the next chapter in the story of our Lycée.

Goodbye, and wishing you all a wonderful winter or summer, wherever you may be.

Nicolas L'Hotellier

PRIMARY

A Spectacular End to the School Year

The Primary School end-of-year performances conclude this week! From Petite Section to Year 6 (CM2), our students are taking to the stage with enthusiasm to share these special moments with their families.

Thank you to our parents for their presence and encouragement, and congratulations to our teachers and teaching assistants, whose creativity and dedication make these wonderful moments possible. A special thank you also to our official choreographer, Jessica Powell-Antonini, for guiding and inspiring our students with talent and care throughout the preparation of their end-of-year performances.

Welcome to Secondary School

The end of the school year marks an important milestone for our Kindergarten (Grande Section) and Year 6 students.

All of them celebrated the completion of this stage of their education during a graduation ceremony. On Tuesday 30 June, our Year 6 students also bid farewell to Primary School during the traditional parade held in the Central School courtyard—a moving moment as they prepare to begin their Secondary School journey.

Congratulations to all our Grande Section (Kindergarten) students, who will be starting Year 1, and to our Year 6 students, who will be moving on to Year 7. We wish them a wonderful holiday and look forward to welcoming them back for this exciting new chapter in their school journey.

Un grand merci à Valentin pour son précieux soutien technique dans notre tout nouveau studio d’enregistrement. Nouveauté cette année : le podcast est désormais entièrement bilingue, en français et en anglais !

SECONDARY

The Fantastic Four of the Nuit du Code

Congratulations to our four Year 11 NSI students, whose game was selected among the best entries in the Nuit du Code, an international competition bringing together teams from around the world.

In just six hours, they designed and developed a tower defense game in which players must strategically place and upgrade towers to defend against waves of enemies advancing along a predetermined path.

Programmers Elliot Le C. and Alexandre L., together with designers and musicians Liam C. and Mael L., demonstrated outstanding talent, great creativity, and an excellent team spirit.

A special thank you also to their teacher, Mr Albert Bossy, for guiding and supporting them throughout this fantastic game development adventure.
