A message from LCS
Dear LCS Community,
We will be soon celebrating the art of public speaking, debate, and critical thinking with the 2024 edition of the Ambassadors in the Making, scheduled for Tuesday, February 6th. We express our heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed jury for their presence.
Our second event of the month will be the Reading Week from February 12th to 16th, where LCS students will have the pleasure of engaging in various activities. We are excited to unveil the program below and invite primary school parents to join us at the library on Thursday, February 15th, starting at 2:30 PM.
Primary school students will parade in costumes inspired by their favourite characters, whether fictional or real. Meanwhile, 6th and 4th-grade students will visit classrooms to share stories with their younger peers.
The Book Van and Scholastic will be on-site, offering a wide range of magazines and books in both French and English. Lastly, secondary school students are encouraged to participate in a screen-free day during their leisure time between classes at the foyer.

Portrait de Claudia Scherer-Effosse, Directrice générale de l’AEFE.
Claudia Scherer-Effosse has always been passionate about international relations. At the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, she held various positions in France and abroad before being appointed as the Director-General of the AEFE in August 2023. She expressed her happiness in taking on the role and leading the AEFE, describing it as a magnificent challenge.
Manage, negotiate, decide: that's how she summarises her roles as the Director-General of the AEFE. 'Upon my arrival, I was immediately impressed by the dedication and mobilisation of AEFE agents, as well as all the stakeholders in the network – staff, families, trade unions – in sometimes challenging contexts.'
The ambition set by the President of the Republic is to double the AEFE's staff by 2030, and Claudia believes in the power of collective effort and the need to continually question their actions. She concludes with a quote that gives meaning to her actions: "It is not necessary to hope in order to undertake, nor to succeed to persevere." This quote, attributed to Guillaume d'Orange (King of the Netherlands), guides her approach. Her daughter often tells her, "You are a problem solver."
Request for intention and orientation / Re-enrolment
To optimise class management for the upcoming school year, the intention and orientation survey must be completed online on Eduka. To facilitate this, you will receive a link via email tomorrow, inviting you to fill it out before February 15th. Please note that this survey does not replace the re-registration form concerning your child's administrative status. The latter will be sent to you in March and must also be duly completed. Thank you.
French Consulate Scolarships 2024/25
Families who wish to submit an application for the French Consulate scholarship are invited to send their complete application to social.sydney-fslt@diplomatie.gouv.fr via the France Transfert messaging service using the following link : https://francetransfert.numerique.gouv.fr/upload.
Complete applications with all required documents must be received by the French Consulate General no later than 23 February 2024.

LCS financial aid 2024/2025
If you are in a difficult financial situation, we invite you to contact accounts.ar@condorcet.com.au in order to put together an application for financial assistance for next school year 2024-25. Some conditions apply.

This Friday the café de Flore will have french crêpes ! Don't miss out on this french delicacy.
For every crepe purchased, $1 will be donated to the Parents & Friends association.

Van du livre et Scholastics
The Book Van will be present at LCS on Wednesday, 14th, and Thursday, 15th February during the Reading Week.
Scholastics will be at LCS only on the Thursday 15th od February.
School Fête
The LCS School Fête is scheduled for March 16th, and the pre-sale of tickets will be available shortly.
Wellbeing
VISION SCREENING - 4 TO 6 YEARS
The Statewide Eyesight Preschooler Screening (StEPS) program is an initiative of the NSW Department of Health and provides all children aged 4 to 6 years with a free vision screening.
This exam will take place on Mondays, February 12th and 19th in the morning.
It is strongly recommended that all children aged 4 to 6 years participate in the vision screening program.
If your child is in kindergarten and has not yet received a StEPS vision test, your child is eligible for a free vision screen.
Your child's vision will be examined one eye at a time and no drops will be used.
The StEPS program is intended for screening purposes.
A consent form will be placed in your child's bag and you must return it to us quickly before the 7th of February at the reception.

Art exhibition at the COMA gallery
The IB students will be showing their works at the COMA gallery on the 15th of February from 5pm to 8pm.

Meet & greet with students
Is my English proficiency sufficient for studies in Australia? Is France truly the best choice for political science studies? If I have a passion for cinema, what subject should I choose until the Bac? Is there a surefire path to success in medical or engineering studies? And if I'm interested in law, how many hours a day should I dedicate to my studies?
To address all these questions, we invite you to join us on Monday, February 12th, for a meeting with students from the best universities in NSW and beyond. They will be there to listen, share their experiences, address your inquiries, doubts, desires, apprehensions, and help you envision your future, whether it be in Australia or elsewhere. French exchange students here will also share their bicultural experiences.
