Night at school and Casino night
On April 9th, the school celebrated its traditional Night at School, a highly anticipated event for students. For the occasion, the theatre was transformed into a warm and comfortable sleeping area, specially arranged to welcome the children.
This edition was marked by a major new feature: the Casino Night. Before bedtime, a fun-filled evening brought together children and parents around “casino-style” games adapted for younger participants, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere. Open to all classes from Petite Section to Grande Section (PS, MS, and GS), this event provided a wonderful opportunity to bring children together in a friendly setting and strengthen the bond between families and the school.
At the end of the evening, PS and MS students went home with their parents, while GS students had the chance to extend the experience by spending the night at school. A big thank you to the teachers, parents, and all volunteers for their commitment and valuable contribution to the success of this event.
Athletic Carnival at Snape Park
On Friday, April 10th, on the eve of the holidays, students from CP to CM2 gathered at Snape Park for the highly anticipated Carnaval Athletic. This day, filled with sports and good spirits, brought children together around numerous physical and fun activities.
On the program: sack races, football, tug of war, obstacle courses, and many other challenges that allowed everyone to participate, push themselves, and share team moments in an enthusiastic atmosphere.
Divided into teams, the students showed great energy and sportsmanship throughout the day. This year, it was the green team that brilliantly claimed victory, winning under everyone’s cheers.
A big thank you to the supervising staff as well as the parent volunteers for their commitment and invaluable help, which greatly contributed to the success of this sporting event.
Ocean School: A Morning at Maroubra Beach for CP Students
This morning, some CP classes went to Maroubra Beach with their teachers and parent volunteers as part of the Ocean School program.
The students were divided into small groups: under the pine trees, some began with a water painting session; others made the most of the sand to get introduced to AFL; meanwhile, the remaining groups took part in a fun vocabulary workshop. In teams, the children had to find elements around them that matched adjectives such as “dry,” “wet,” or “wow.”
An outing that was at once joyful, active, and full of learning. Tomorrow, it will be the turn of the other CP classes to take part in the Ocean School program.
A Week Dedicated to Reading
The Reading Week is being prepared with a rich program, staying true to the traditions of previous years. This event aims to encourage a love of reading among students while involving the entire school community.
The festivities will begin on Monday, May 18th in the morning with the traditional costume parade. Children will be invited to embody a character from their favorite book, transforming the school into a lively and colorful literary world.
On Tuesday, May 19th at 11 a.m., everyone will take part in the initiative “Drop Everything and Read”. For fifteen minutes, all activities will pause as everyone immerses themselves in reading, creating a shared moment of calm and focus around books.
On Wednesday, May 20th, the focus will be on the reading marathon, a day dedicated to exploring different books and sharing a variety of reading experiences.
Finally, the week will conclude on Friday, May 22nd with an afternoon open to families. At 1:30 p.m., Margaux Grappe will give a presentation for parents, followed at 2:30 p.m. by an opportunity to meet exhibitors in the BCD courtyard.
This week promises to celebrate reading in all its forms, in a friendly and inspiring atmosphere.
SECONDARY
Students at the Heart of the Anzac Day Commemoration
On the occasion of Anzac Day — a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand dedicated to honoring the soldiers who served and sacrificed their lives — students Emma, Kaitlyn, and Tianna experienced an immersive moment at the heart of the parade.
They walked for nearly an hour through the streets of the city center, in the heart of the CBD, carried by the solemn atmosphere of the event. At the beginning and end of their march, they took time to exchange a few words with the children and grandchildren of veterans.
What particularly stood out to the students, however, was the reception from the public: the warm applause and sincere support from the crowd gave this experience a deeply moving dimension, leaving them with a lasting memory.
Graduation and Gala 2026: Information Zoom Reminder
Dear parents and legal guardians,
We would like to remind you that tomorrow, Thursday, April 30th, a Zoom session will be held dedicated to a Q&A as well as a presentation of the program for the baccalaureate graduation ceremony and the Class of 2026 gala. All practical information (schedule, ticketing, reservations) will be shared, ahead of the opening of RSVPs for each event. A calendar invitation has been sent to you by email. See you tomorrow.
LCS SPORT
Tennis: A Triumphant First Gala with Two Titles and a Perfect Run
On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, the LCS tennis section took part in its first tennis gala within the CDSSA association. Three teams were entered, with 12 players selected from the 20 players in the sports section.
Matches were played as two singles of 6 games each, followed by one doubles match of 8 games. The combined scores of the three results determined the winning team. The top team out of the six entered in each category was awarded the trophy.
And it was with great pride that LCS convincingly won the trophies in both the Junior Boys and Junior Girls categories, with an outstanding total of 15 matches won out of 15!
The Senior Boys team still secured a 3rd place finish, losing in the semi-final against the winners, McDonald College. These positive results highlight the commitment and hard work of all players in the section and promise great achievements for next year.
Handball: An LCS x UNSW encounter marked by the Velasque Family
The friendly match between LCS and UNSW took on a special dimension this year with the presence of Lucas Velasque, a former LCS student and now captain of the University of New South Wales handball team. Facing him, Alexis Velasque, captain of the LCS 2026 team, proudly represented the school and is also highly involved within LCS.
This match is part of the LCS team’s preparation for the NSW Schools Championship, which will take place on May 12th. A second and final match is scheduled after the April holidays to complete this preparation.
This LCS x UNSW clash was not just a match, but a true moment of transmission and pride, illustrating the sporting heritage and shared values within the LCS community.

The School Fair Is Fast Approaching
The School Fair is fast approaching, and the entire team is delighted to share the key information for this wonderful day so eagerly awaited by the children!

More activities than ever this year: This year, the teams have worked enthusiastically to increase both the number and variety of activities, including:
A remote-controlled Mario Kart car race
Two inflatable castles, including an obstacle course for older children
A darts game
The much-anticipated return of the magic show, eagerly awaited by the children
Additional Activities (by popular demand from the children): In addition to the usual entertainment, several new activities are being introduced:
Badminton tournament: from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Calligraphy workshop: from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Kamishibai storytelling sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
Rubik’s Cube session, led by Patrice himself, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Chess tournament from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Food & refreshments: Following feedback and suggestions from parents, both the number of stalls and the variety of food on offer have been increased this year.

Table Football Tournaments at LCS: Saturday, May 2nd
As part of a fundraising initiative organized by Year 12 students, with the support of the Parents and Friends Association, two foosball tournaments will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026 at Lycée Condorcet in Maroubra.
Family Tournament – LCS Students – Free
The day will begin with a family–student tournament – free of charge, taking place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.. This event, open to parents and children, has been introduced following numerous requests to allow everyone to take part in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
As the number of places is limited to 16 teams, registration is on a first come, first served basis. It is therefore recommended to book quickly.
Adults Tournament – Paid
The afternoon will continue with the adults tournament – paid, the highlight of the day. This tournament is part of the famous North vs South rivalry, which has become a must-attend event for the community.
More than 32 teams will compete across 10 tables, with a group stage followed by knockout matches leading up to the final. The games will be fast-paced and dynamic, maintaining a high level of intensity throughout the competition.
The registration fee is set at $35 per player, including drinks.

Cinderella, Condorcet Style — AES Theatre End-of-Year Show
The AES Theatre is delighted to invite you to its end-of-year show: an original and bold reinterpretation of Cinderella, freely inspired by the work of Joël Pommerat.
Joël Pommerat is one of the most distinctive playwrights and directors on the contemporary French stage, known for his reinterpretations of fairy tales that reveal their full darkness, humor, and human depth. It is in this spirit that the students of the workshop have taken hold of this universal story to present their own version—at once funny, cruel, and deeply moving.
After a beginning of the year dedicated to improvisation and theatrical games, the group enthusiastically immersed themselves in this collective adventure. Throughout the sessions, they explored powerful and highly contemporary themes: grief, guilt, dreams, fear, and solidarity.
Do you want to laugh, cry, and be thrilled? Come along! Friday, May 15th at 7:00 p.m. (approximate duration: 1 hour) at the High School Theatre. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Free admission. School rehearsal on Tuesday, May 12th at 9:45 a.m.
Show recommended for ages 10 and up due to sensitive themes (grief, relationship to death).
The AES Theatre group meets every Tuesday from 4:45 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and welcomes students who wish to discover the joy of acting, develop their stage presence, and strengthen their sense of teamwork.

In the event of a possible departure from the school, a 6-week notice period must be respected before the last day of classes, i.e. Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, in order to avoid a $400 fee. The departure form must be completed on Eduka after cancelling your child’s re-enrolment with the admissions office: inscriptions@condorcet.com.au
