Recap and Overview of Reading Week

Reading Week once again transformed our school into a place of celebration, imagination, and a passion for books. It also marked the end of the month-long stay of Michaël Escoffier, our guest author.

It all started with a big costume parade that lit up the school corridors: students and teachers dressed up as book characters, bringing their favorite stories to life in a festive atmosphere full of smiles.

The next day, students from the entire school took on the challenge of the Reading Marathon, concentrated in a single day. The impressive result: 5,633 pages read in primary school and 9,879 pages read in secondary school! Congratulations to all the readers for their enthusiasm.

The week concluded with a very lively Open Day, during which hundreds of books were sold. It was also an opportunity for Michaël Escoffier to hold a book signing session, eagerly awaited by families and children. A wonderful way to conclude both the week and his stay with us.

Michaël Escoffier spoke to all the kindergarten and primary school classes, taking the time to present his work, the steps involved in creating a book, and to interact with the students. Here are some highlights of his visits:

In CE2, Lucas Espil's students were inspired by some of his works that play with words, notably by adding or removing a letter to create fun and unexpected words. From these findings, the students invented original sea creatures that they will then illustrate. Among their creations are: the branch-tip shark, the mantle shark, the great flank shark, the iron star, and the stalk shark.

In CE1, Maxence Jardin's students also worked with word games. Their original character, a bear with overly big hands, inspired a humorous story: The Little Log, which actually becomes The Little Doe, and so on... a wonderful series of mischievous transformations!

In CM1, Marie Lombard's students had the chance to write a mini thriller: Murder in CM1. Who among the CM1D students won't be coming back from camp this year? And above all... who do we owe this bloody murder to? Suspense guaranteed!

Before leaving for Canada, Michaël told us that he was impressed by the commitment of the students and teachers. He is leaving with his head full of memories, and we warmly thank him for his generous and inspiring presence.
