“Un Monde Sans Fin” and the Unlimited Creativity of Our Students

Dear LCS community,

The “Un Monde Sans Fin” exhibition, held yesterday at the theater, was a resounding success. Inspired by the graphic novel of the same name by Blain and Jancovici, our dedicated teaching team, particularly the coordinators of the LCS eco-committee, worked tirelessly to engage students of all ages, encouraging them to reflect on environmental issues in a fun and interactive way.

The theater was packed from 3 PM to 6 PM, a testament to the enthusiasm of students, parents, and teachers. The day was filled with inspiring moments.

The Eloquence Contest was a true highlight, showcasing the remarkable talent and depth of thought among our students. The jury was amazed by the quality of the speeches, making it difficult to choose winners. Among the six participating families, two were non-francophone, demonstrating the dedication and impressive efforts of our students. A huge thank you to our esteemed jury members for their presence and support: Denis Morandet, General Director of the Alliance Française, Raphaël Coulhon, Cultural Attaché at the French Embassy, and Cathy Halter, French teacher at LCS.

The Comic Strip Contest was equally impressive, with students displaying incredible creativity and engagement. Congratulations to the winners of the three categories, who brilliantly illustrated deep and thought-provoking themes with their exceptional artistic skills.

Meanwhile, the 6th-grade students amazed us with their urban model projects, full of imagination and often tinged with humor. They recreated cityscapes and urban zones, portraying modern societies and dystopian visions of the future—all while repurposing materials and using recycled objects. Bravo for this fantastic achievement!

None of this creative energy and innovation would have been possible without the outstanding dedication of our teaching team. A heartfelt thank you to Marion Lavaud, Isabelle Johannon, and Sandrine de Coetlogon, the true architects of this exhibition. Their passion and commitment brought this ambitious and inspiring project to life. Bravo to all participants and organizers for making this event an unforgettable success!

Hommage à Stéphane Bronnert

Some of you had the opportunity to know him during his time at LCS, where he worked in our student life department. It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Stéphane Bronnert’s passing. His sudden loss on Friday has deeply affected us all—both those who knew him as a dedicated colleague at Lycée Condorcet de Sydney and those who had the chance to cross paths with him within our community over the years.

For those who may not know, Stéphane spent four years at LCS alongside his wife, Valérie Bronnert, who was then the Primary School Director, before their journey took them to Morocco. He leaves behind many precious memories and strong bonds with so many of us.

LCS extends its heartfelt support and affection to Valérie, Lou-Ann, and Juliette. A floral tribute will be sent in their name on behalf of all Stéphane’s friends at LCS. A condolence book will soon be made available for anyone who wishes to leave a message of support and solidarity during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

Reception hours during the holiday break

While students being on holidays, the reception stays open from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm.

Bravo à Nos Jeunes Triathlètes Camille et Summer ! 🏅

Ce week-end à Huskisson, deux Camille et Summer, en CE2 et CM1, ont brillamment participé au triathlon ! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Elles ont relevé le défi avec énergie et détermination, prouvant que l’âge n’est pas un obstacle pour accomplir de grandes choses.

Le Cross des CM2 à Snape Park ! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

On Wednesday February 26, 2025, CM2 pupils took part in a school cross-country race, putting their endurance and team spirit to the test. Divided into two groups, the pupils ran for durations of 10, 12 and 15 minutes, depending on their group. The two groups supported each other, observed each other and encouraged each other. The atmosphere was great, with parents on hand to support and applaud every performance.

Exploration et Créativité au Randwick Environmental Park 🌿🦖

This week our kindergarten pupils had the opportunity to spend a school day at Environmental Park, a place rich in biodiversity. This educational outing enabled the children to explore nature while learning more about dinosaurs.

Park activities :

Studying Dinosaurs: The children observed fossil footprints, stimulating their curiosity and imagination.
Creative Workshops: Equipped with leaves and flowers collected on site, they created works of art, combining creativity and learning about nature.

Continuing learning at school:

Back at school, the two multilingual classes explored the theme of the extinction of the dinosaurs. To illustrate this phenomenon, a scientific experiment was carried out: a simulated volcanic eruption, captivating the students' attention!

The final of the Petits champions de la lecture was a great success. Our finalists performed their texts brilliantly, making the choice of winner particularly difficult. Each of them captivated the audience with their talent and expressiveness. Congratulations to all participants for their outstanding performance.

Use of Microwaves in Primary School

For safety reasons, we remind you that primary school students do not have access to microwaves or kettles in the cafeteria during lunch. It is therefore recommended that children bring a cold meal or use an insulated lunchbox.

Volunteers Needed for the Athletic Carnival

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to announce that our Athletic Carnival will take place on Wednesday, 16th April, at Snape Park, and we need YOU to help make it an amazing day!

This all-day event (9 AM – 2 PM) promises to be a fantastic experience for the students, filled with excitement, teamwork, and fun outdoor activities. However, to ensure the success of this event, we rely on the active involvement of our parent community.

We are looking for parent volunteers to:

• Follow a team throughout the day and cheer them on, or

• Lead an activity and bring the event to life.

Your participation is not only essential to the smooth running of the event but also a wonderful opportunity to share in the joy and energy of the day with your child and their peers.

Social networking awareness: a project run by students for students

Dear Parents,

As part of an educational project, 5èmeB students worked on raising awareness of the use of social networks. Through various media that they have produced, they wish to inform and make 6th grade students think about the risks linked to uncontrolled use. This project is part of the French program under the theme “Living in society, participating in society”, supervised by their teacher, Ms. Cathy Halter.

The 6th grade classes will take part in these sessions on the following dates:

Monday March 17: 6th A and 6th B
Monday March 24: 6th C and 6th D

These exchanges will take place during class time (7:55 - 8:50 a.m.) and will be supervised by the teachers.

We're delighted to see our students getting involved in this civic-minded project, designed by students, for students, to help them better understand digital issues.

**Rehearsals of Notre-Dame: The Countdown Begins ? Notre-Dame : Le Compte à Rebours Commence 🎭**

Les répétitions pour Notre-Dame, notre comédie musicale tant attendue, battent leur plein ! L’énergie et l’enthousiasme des participants ne cessent de croître, alors que chaque journée rapproche un peu plus notre équipe de la première scène.

The students immersed themselves in the world of Victor Hugo with fervor, reinventing legendary characters like Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Frollo. Rehearsals are a true immersion in this timeless story, where every gesture, every musical note and every emotion counts. The dancers, singers, musicians and actors work hard to offer a show that is as impressive as it is captivating.

Rehearsals take place regularly, under the guidance of our teaching and artistic teams, to perfect every detail. Costumes and sets begin to take shape, and the tension mounts as the premiere draws nearer!

Wear it Wild on Friday, March 21st: Let's act for endangered animals.

is an opportunity to raise awareness among all our primary school students about the preservation of endangered species. This year, there’s no need to buy a costume! Let’s encourage creativity with homemade outfits: a mask, recycled accessories, or clothes in the colors of your favorite animal.

Many species, such as tigers, red pandas, and sea turtles, are endangered. Through this initiative, we are raising children’s awareness about wildlife protection.

Take advantage of this day to make a donation and support the cause. Together, let’s help preserve our biodiversity!

Let’s Go Surfing – Surf Lessons during the March Holidays

We are happy to inform you that Let’s Go Surfing, our preferred partner who provides surf lessons for students from Year 6 to Year 12 and as part of our surf sports program, will be offering surf lessons during the March holidays.

From March 3rd to 7th, lessons will be offered outside of the school setting for anyone who wishes to discover or improve their technique. These lessons will be led by qualified instructors and provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy a fun time while learning to surf.

These sessions are independent of the school and are open to anyone who wants to take advantage of the waves during the school vacation week.

GARDERIE / AFTER CARE

Dear Families,

We are pleased to announce that, for the third consecutive year, we have partnered with the Gujaga Foundation to offer Dharawal language lessons. These lessons will take place every Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at Aftercare. Quaiden, a dedicated Dharawal teacher, will be leading the sessions for the next five weeks.

The Dharawal language is the traditional language spoken by a number of Aboriginal family groups from Sydney Harbour to the Illawarra. It is an important part of our community’s cultural heritage, and we are excited for the students to engage with it in such a meaningful way.

We look forward to another wonderful year of learning!
