Dear parents, students, and LCS team,

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of you for your presence the recent graduation ceremonies that marked an important milestone in the life of our school.

The Year 12 Graduation Ceremony, held in the prestigious setting of the NSW State Library, will remain a cherished memory. It was truly moving to see our students, proudly wearing their graduation gowns, gathered on the steps to celebrate this key moment before embarking on their future academic and professional journeys.

I would also like to warmly thank the Gala team for creating such a magical atmosphere on Saturday evening at the Royal Botanic Garden. A special thank you to Mr. Yacine Bachtili, our Head of Student Life, for the brilliant coordination of both events, which will surely be remembered by our senior students.

Our primary students also had their moment to shine, with the GS and Year 6 graduation ceremonies. These celebrations, following dazzling performances, delighted the families who came to support their children in the school theatre. Sincere thanks to Jessica Lopez for the stunning balloon decorations, which brought colour and joy to the ceremony and made the day truly special.

Finally, I would like to express my deep appreciation to all the primary school teachers involved in organising these events. Your dedication and care are what make these moments so meaningful and memorable for our students and their families.

We look forward to seeing you again at the start of the school year. In the meantime, we wish you a restful and well-deserved holiday.

The reception will be closed from July 7th to July 27th included. You will find here the contacts of the administrative team. During the rest of the holidays, the reception will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Primary

🎨 Semaine des Arts – Exposition dans le hall d’entrée

During Arts Week, the works created by primary school students during the last semester are exhibited in the school entrance hall.

Colors, materials, varied techniques... each production reflects the creativity, sensitivity and work of the students, accompanied by their teachers.

We invite you to come and discover these magnificent creations throughout the week. Congratulations to all the budding artists!

Chess and "mates"

On Tuesday, June 24, the high school hall was transformed into a tournament room to host an exceptional event: a large chess tournament bringing together 87 CE2 students, organized by Mr. Pierre-Gérard with the participation of CE2 teachers and Neil, a speaker from the Sydney Academy of Chess.

This milestone event culminates several weeks of classroom training and online tournaments, particularly during the Sunday 1 p.m. meetings, which are regularly and enthusiastically attended by many students.

Throughout the day, the matches continued in a focused and passionate atmosphere. The students demonstrated great sportsmanship, patience, and thoughtfulness. At the end of the tournament, the top six players had the opportunity to compete simultaneously against Neil, to the applause of the crowd.

Congratulations to all participants for their commitment, their progress throughout the term, and their exemplary fair play!

🎒 Excursion des CM1 au Hyde Park Barracks

This Tuesday, June 25, Year 5 students spent the day at Hyde Park Barracks, a World Heritage Site located in the heart of Sydney.

Accompanied by their teachers, they learned about the history of convicts through an interactive tour combining stories, period objects, and role-playing scenarios. They participated in practical workshops and were able to observe how prisoners lived in the 19th century.

This outing allowed them to better understand an important chapter in Australian history in a fun and immersive way. A great experience for learning outside of the classroom!

« Cet été, je lis ! » - « This summer, I read! »

As part of the national operation "This summer, I read!", launched by the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Culture, we want to encourage our primary school students to cultivate the pleasure of reading during the holidays. This initiative aims to promote daily reading among children, by offering them a selection of books adapted to their age and interests. Reading a little each day fosters imagination, enriches vocabulary, and strengthens understanding of the world.
Below you will find a list of recommended books for each age group, taken from the 2025 selection proposed by teachers and the National Center for Children's Literature (CNLJ). These suggestions are of course not exhaustive, and you are free to add your own literary choices.

SECONDARY

Student Spotlight Chloé.R - Sydney Youth Orchestra

We are excited and proud to share that one of our 5eme students, Chloe Rambaud, will be performing with Sydney Youth Orchestra’s Symphonic Wind Orchestra. As part of National Science Week 2025, Chloé will take part in “The Planets – Concert and Stargazing”, a special event held in Centennial Park on Saturday, August 16th.

We warmly invite all families to come and attend this exceptional concert in the beautiful setting of Centennial Park. It's a great opportunity to support young musicians and see Chloé perform live.

If your child is interested in joining a local youth orchestra or choir, please discuss this with their Music teacher, Kenia RAMIREZ-WORKU, as there are many opportunities in our local area.

Swimming Carnival: A Day of Fun and Challenges at Des Renford!

On June 19, students from CE2 to 6e competed in the Swimming Carnival at Den Renforsd, in a crazy atmosphere full of energy and good humor.

The various houses gave their best during the aquatic events, showing solidarity, courage and fair play throughout the day.

The results are in:

Maison Bleue wins first place.
Maison Rouge finished second.
Maison Verte ranks third.

Congratulations to all participants for their commitment and enthusiasm during this wonderful sporting day!
