Celebrating Sophie Muzard’s 16 Years of Dedication at LCS
After 16 years at LCS, Sophie Muzard is beginning a new chapter in her life. We extend our heartfelt thanks for her dedication, her many contributions, and the warmth she brought to our community each day.
You have all known Sophie through her role at the LCS reception, where her kindness, professionalism, and unmistakable French elegance helped create a warm, welcoming, and friendly atmosphere for everyone who walked through our doors.
Through her kindness, dedication to service, and constant presence, Sophie has left a lasting mark on the life of LCS. She will be remembered by all of us as a valued colleague and a cherished member of our community. We warmly thank her for her many years of commitment and wish her every happiness for the future as she embarks on this new chapter of her life. Sophie will conclude her role at LCS on 30 June 2026.

- Registration Opens in Eduka: From Wed. June 3rd at 8:00pm
- Limit of 2 activities for the first 15 minutes – No limit from Wednesday 3 June 2026 at 8:15 PM
- Registration closes in Eduka: Sunday 2 August 2026 at 11:00 PM
- Activities begin on the first day of school, Wednesday 19 August 2026, and will end on the last day of classes, Friday 18 December 2026.
- No cancellations or modifications will be accepted after this date and the full semester will be due..
- Pick-up during activities is not permitted.

End of Activities, Registration Period, and Resumption Dates for 2026–2027
Extracurricular Activities (AES) for students from Grande Section onwards will continue until the last day of school, including Tuesday, 30 June.
Registration for Extracurricular Activities (AES) for the first semester of the 2026–2027 school year remains open until 2 August.
Extracurricular Activities (AES) will resume on the first day of the new school year, Wednesday, 19 August.
Extracurricular Activities in the Spotlight: Performances, Exhibitions, and Family Moments
Students enrolled in dance, acrobatics, music, and instrumental extracurricular activities (AES) had the pleasure of performing in front of their parents last week, showcasing the skills and achievements they have developed throughout the semester.
Parents of students enrolled in the painting and drawing extracurricular activities (AES) were also invited to join their children for a friendly family art session, enjoying drawing and painting together.

A Spectacular End to the School Year
The Primary School end-of-year performances conclude this week! From Petite Section to Year 6 (CM2), our students are taking to the stage with enthusiasm to share these special moments with their families.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents for their support and encouragement. Congratulations as well to our teachers and teaching assistants, whose creativity, dedication, and commitment make these wonderful moments possible.

From LCS to New Horizons: An Evening Celebrating Our Graduates
It was with immense pride that we celebrated our Year 12 graduates. Our IB students were accompanied by their homeroom teacher, Mrs Mills, and IB Coordinator, Mrs Gonzales; our Baccalauréat students by Mr Gay-Para; and our BFI students by Mr Ros. Together, they marked this important milestone during their graduation ceremony at the State Library of New South Wales and their end-of-year gala at The Calyx, located within the Sydney Botanic Garden.
This memorable evening marked the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and achievement, while also opening the door to exciting new academic and professional journeys. Surrounded by their families, teachers, and classmates, our graduates shared a truly emotional and unforgettable moment.

Our sincerest thanks go to the teaching teams and homeroom teachers for their unwavering commitment to our students; to Consul General Gilles Berrier and Mr Thistlethwaite, Australian Federal Member of Parliament and Government Minister, for their inspiring addresses; to the members of the LCS Management Committee; to our Principal, Mr L’Hôtellier; our Deputy Principal, Mr. Jonkx and to all parents for their trust and support throughout this remarkable journey.

Annual Collaborative IB Science Project
This week, our International Baccalaureate (IB) students took advantage of the stunning coastal scenery along the Maroubra-to-Malabar coastal walk as part of the school’s Annual Collaborative Sciences Project (CSP). Through hands-on fieldwork, they investigated one of the most pressing environmental challenges facing our oceans today: microplastic pollution.
Working in interdisciplinary teams made up of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics students, participants were tasked with investigating the presence of microplastics along the coastline using authentic scientific methods, including hypothesis development, data collection, analysis, and the presentation of their findings.
Each group was assigned a specific research question on the morning of the excursion. Topics ranged from mapping the distribution of plastic waste across cliff tops, rocky platforms, and sandy beaches, to analysing microplastic contamination in beach sands, as well as investigating how UV radiation, wave action, and saltwater contribute to the gradual breakdown of plastics into increasingly smaller fragments.
This project required genuine teamwork. Students were encouraged to bring the unique perspective of their discipline to the data they collected: biologists examined the impacts on filter-feeding organisms and species living in the intertidal zone; chemists investigated polymer structures and surface chemistry; while physicists applied the principles of wave mechanics and fluid dynamics to explain where and why plastics accumulate.
Our sincere thanks to Mr Baggott, Mrs O’Brien, and Mrs Atwa for organising this enriching and inspiring day of learning.

We offer students a wide range of physical and sporting activities in a friendly, motivating environment tailored to each student’s goals. It is also an opportunity to proudly represent LCS in inter-school competitions, whether local, national or international.

✪ Availability of University and Careers Guidance During the Summer Holidays
Ms Salier will be available, either in person or online, to discuss students’ exam results and/or tertiary education plans until and including Wednesday 8 July.
Students who would like to get a head start on their university and career planning, discuss strategies, or develop an action plan before the new school year begins will also be able to meet with Ms Salier when she returns full-time on Monday 3 August.

University of St Andrews (Scotland) Online Open Day: A series of presentations will begin at 9:00 pm (Sydney time) on Wednesday, 24 June. Topics will include admissions, accommodation, student support services, a “Ask a Student” session, and much more.

Introduction to Selective Admissions for International Students Webinar: The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), a member of the Ivy League, will host this webinar on Thursday, 25 June at 10:00 am (US Eastern Daylight Time). Penn admissions officers will provide an overview of the university’s admissions process. An excellent opportunity not to be missed.

Scheduled for Wednesday, 29 July at 4:00 pm, this webinar will present the range of domestic scholarships available, representing more than AU$135 million in total. It will also explain the application process and provide practical advice on preparing a strong application. Registration: LINK

Western Sydney University will hold its Open Day at the Parramatta campus on Sunday, 5 July, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Information: LINK

Volunteering at the National Marine Science Centre: Students interested in marine science are encouraged to explore the volunteering opportunities available through the National Marine Science Centre (NMSC). Information: LINK
National History Challenge
The National History Challenge is a free, research-based history competition for Australian students. The theme for the 2026 competition is “Voices”, offering participants the opportunity to explore a wide range of historical topics. The submission deadline is Friday, 28 August 2026. The competition is open to all primary and secondary students across a variety of age categories.

The Magic Continues During the Holidays
After choreographing this year’s end-of-year performances for Grande Section, CE2, CM1, CM2 and the multi-age classes, Jessica Powell-Antonini—the dancer and choreographer behind the memorable flash mob that marked LCS’s 60th anniversary—is offering dance and acrobatics holiday camps for students during the school break.
