REMINDER: Transition Y / TeamKids
The childcare service for children aged 5 to 12 will be interrupted on August 15 and 16 due to the transition between Y and TeamKids.
TeamKids will start on Monday August 19, the first day of school.
Canteen Committee – May 2024 Meeting
The Canteen committee met for the first time on May 30, 2024, with the presence of parent and student representatives, the school catering provider Chartwells, and members of the administration.
It should be noted that the parent representatives were invited to lunch to experience firsthand this important time for the children. They were able to share photos of the meals served with the entire community.
This meeting allowed us to discuss the following points:
- The presentation of the cafeteria provider team who are present daily with your children
- The menus offered (variety, quality, and quantity)
- Work on food waste reduction and waste sorting
The positive aspects discussed were:
- The variety and balance of the menus offered
- The same menu for both children and adults
- Efforts to combat food waste
- Waste sorting
Areas for improvement:
- The quantity according to age groups
- Improved visibility of menus on dedicated platforms (Pronote - website)
- Increased communication regarding meals for kindergarten children and lunchtime

The NAPLAN 2024 results will be distributed to families in August, upon our return to school.

Free parenting workshops in Randwick from July to December 2024
The city of Randwick presents the calendar of free workshops for the period from July to December 2024. These workshops are designed to offer valuable support in your essential role as a parent.
Organised by the Randwick City Council in collaboration with local experts, these sessions will cover a variety of topics relevant to all stages of your child's life.

Flashmob at LCS
The primary school students participated in a unique flashmob titled "Dance the Games!". This event is part of the preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Under the direction of Mourad Merzouki and labeled as a Cultural Olympiad, the collective choreography was performed in the AEFE Asia-Pacific Zone, with all the students dancing to the original music created by Müller & Makaroff (Gotan Project).
The five-minute performance allowed the students to express themselves freely while adhering to the criteria established by the educational project "Dance of the Games | Generation 2024."

Primary Students' Assembly for Reconciliation Week
During recent assemblies, our students highlighted the importance of Reconciliation Week. They explained to their peers why this week is crucial in Australia's history, emphasising the need to respect and understand Indigenous cultures.
Class Delegates Meeting: Yearly Review and Future Projects
At the last Class Delegates Meeting, students reviewed the past year and formulated new proposals for the upcoming year. This meeting provided everyone with an opportunity to share their experiences and ideas in a spirit of collaboration and continuous development.

Western Sydney University Open Day
Open Day season is fast approaching!
WSU is one of the first to host, on Sunday 30 June from 10am-4pm. Registration is required so you can receive updates and plan your time on campus.
This year Open Day is at Parramatta South campus. Open Day is a great way to familiarise yourself with the campus, view facilities, understand courses available, and get a feel for student life: link to register
Experience UTS Day
This will be held in the holidays on Wednesday 17 July from 9am-2.45pm and is open to incoming Year 11 & 12 students.
There are over 30 interactive workshops to choose from so a great opportunity to try out different areas before you commit to study at university. It’s free and places fill quickly so register early: link to register
Bond University (Gold Coast) Experience Days
These hands-on events are complimentary for upcoming Year 10, 11 & 12 students and an accompanying parent.

Bond University has been running this short film competition for nearly 30 years for interested Year 11 & 12 students.

Primary Eco Delegates at LCS: Leaders in Recycling and Sustainability
The primary Eco Delegates at Lycée Condorcet Sydney lead by example in environmental sustainability. Through initiatives like "Plastic Police" for soft plastic recycling and "Return and Earn" to combat deforestation, they actively promote waste sorting and environmental protection. Their dedication inspires our entire community to embrace eco-friendly practices for a greener future.

CLASSES
In the primary classes, we have implemented two bins: a red one for general waste and a blue one for paper and cardboard.

For food waste, we use FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) bins, and our chef utilises the Leanpath application.

RECESS
In the playgrounds, we have red bins (general waste) and yellow bins (recycling).
We have also set up "Plastic Police" bins stations. In collaboration with the primary school eco-delegates, we have implemented "Plastic Police" bins to recycle soft plastics and contribute to a circular economy.
We plan to purchase outdoor furniture for the new playground (ANZAC) made from recycled soft plastics.
There are also compost bins and worm farms, primarily used by the cafeteria and our gardener Toa, with fruit peelings from the kindergarten's morning snacks.
RETURN AND EARN
We also collect refundable plastic, aluminum, and glass containers to raise funds for combating deforestation through the Eco Matcher program.
These initiatives illustrate our ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management at Lycée Condorcet Sydney.
