Welcome to our 2026 Reading Week special guest: Margaux Grappe, Illustrator in Residence
For Reading Week 2026, Lycée Condorcet is delighted to welcome children's book illustrator Margaux Grappe for a three-week artistic residency focused on creativity, collaboration, and imagination. Through a series of workshops and meetings with students, this invitation will allow them to discover the world of contemporary illustration while participating in the creation of a large collective mural on the walls of Building A, opposite the theater.
A graduate of the École Supérieure d’Art de Lorraine in Épinal, Margaux Grappe is a French illustrator renowned for her sensitive and colorful style, largely inspired by nature and the living world. She collaborates with several children's publishers such as Milan, Casterman, and Hélium, and regularly leads artistic projects with schools and cultural institutions. Her work blends illustration, mural painting, and art education.
Throughout her residency at Lycée Condorcet, Margaux Grappe will meet with kindergarten, primary, and secondary school students through various artistic activities. The first week will be dedicated to presenting her work, leading stencil workshops on tote bags, and launching the collaborative mural created with several classes. The week of May 18th will allow for the continuation of this collective creation, as well as organizing illustration workshops and participating in several highlights of Reading Week, including the parade of students dressed as book characters and the open house for families on Friday, May 22nd.
This residency will offer students a privileged opportunity to discover the creative process of a professional illustrator, to explore different graphic techniques and to contribute to a collective work that will enrich the spaces of the high school in a lasting way.

2026–2027 Tuition Fees Invoice
The invoice for tuition fees for the first semester of the 2026–2027 school year will be sent during the week of 15 June 2026. It will also be available via your Eduka portal.
We kindly ask you to ensure that your Eduka account is up to date regarding all fees for the second semester of the 2025–2026 school year.
LCS Financial Assistance 2026–2027 – Application deadline: 31/05/26
If you are experiencing financial difficulties, we invite you to contact accounts.ar@condorcet.com.au in order to prepare an application for financial assistance for the 2026/2027 tuition fees. Please note that this assistance is reserved for families who are not eligible for scholarships from the French government. Certain conditions apply, and any incomplete or incorrect application may potentially be rejected.
2026 Consular Elections: Important Reminder for French Citizens Abroad
The consular elections for French citizens living abroad, which will allow the election of consular councillors and delegates, will take place on Sunday 31 May 2026 in Sydney, on the same day as the LCS Garage Sale, for in-person voting. Voters registered on the Consular Electoral List (LEC) before 24 April 2026 will be able to vote either in person or by proxy.
Lycée Condorcet will be one of the polling stations made available for this election.
For those unable to travel on election day, it is possible to arrange a proxy vote with a voter registered on the same consular electoral list.
Online voting will also be available from 22 to 27 May 2026.
The official lists of candidates, as well as all additional information, are available on the website of the Consulate General of France in Sydney.

Reading Week 2026: A “Symphony of Stories” at LCS
From 18 to 22 May 2026, Lycée Condorcet Sydney will celebrate the joy of reading through a new edition of Reading Week, this year held under the poetic theme “Symphony of Stories”.
Throughout the week, students will take part in a rich programme of activities designed to bring books to life in all their forms and to share the love of reading across the entire school community.
The celebrations will begin on Monday with a grand book character parade, where students from Kindergarten to Year 5 will come dressed as literary heroes. On Tuesday, Year 6 students will present their adaptation of The Little Prince to the Year 5 classes, followed by a collective “Drop Everything and Read” session.
Wednesday will feature a reading marathon as well as the final of the “Raise Your Voice” competition, celebrating public speaking and reading aloud. On Thursday, Year 6 students will be recognised during the Reading Challenge awards ceremony.
Finally, the week will conclude on Friday with an open day for parents, accompanied by a second-hand book sale and literary events. Families will have the opportunity to attend a presentation by Margaux Grappe as well as a reading by Australian author Sheryle Bagwell based on her book Letter from Provence.
A week dedicated to imagination, sharing and discovery, promising to bring the entire LCS community together through the rhythm of stories.

Letter from Provence : a memoir
For French-speaking parents, lovers of the French language, enthusiasts of Provence — or simply anyone who enjoys meaningful literary encounters — Lycée Condorcet Sydney is delighted to invite you to a special event on Friday 22 May.
We will have the honour of welcoming Australian author Sheryle Bagwell, who has made Provence both her second home and a profound source of inspiration.
In her book Letter from Provence, Sheryle Bagwell offers an Australian perspective on the historic villages where Madame de Sévigné once lived, renowned for the letters she wrote to her daughter from the Château de Grignan.
Echoing this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories, Sheryle will read an excerpt from the correspondence exchanged between these two remarkable women who left a lasting mark on French literature. In a moving parallel, this exchange of letters also inspired the correspondence she shared with her own mother.

About Sheryle Bagwell
Sheryle Bagwell is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and author, recognised with the prestigious Walkley Award. Over the course of her forty-year career in journalism, she served as Economics Editor and later Executive Producer of the flagship programme Breakfast on ABC Radio National. She also worked as a senior reporter and columnist for the Australian Financial Review in Sydney before being appointed the newspaper’s European correspondent in London.
Letter from Provence (Allen & Unwin) is her second book devoted to France. Her first non-fiction book, My French Connection, was published by HarperCollins in 2006.
Sheryle and her husband now divide their time between Sydney and their home in Provence, in the south of France.

When Philosophy Meets Quantum Physics: An Inspiring Encounter for Our Terminale Students
As part of their philosophy studies, our Terminale students had the privilege of welcoming Emmanuel Flurin, physics professor at UNSW and specialist in quantum physics, at the initiative of their teacher Gabriel Gay-Para.
During a fascinating discussion lasting more than an hour, Emmanuel Flurin introduced the fundamental principles of quantum physics while connecting them to the profound philosophical questions explored in class. Reality, determinism, and the perception of time were among the captivating themes students examined at the intersection of science and philosophy.
Highly engaged throughout the session, the students participated with great interest and curiosity, asking many thoughtful questions that contributed to a rich and stimulating dialogue with their teachers.
A huge thank you to Emmanuel Flurin for this captivating immersion into a world that is as complex as it is inspiring, and which has no doubt sparked a genuine scientific vocation in some of our students.
Code Night is Coming Soon at LCS
Lycée Condorcet will take part in the next edition of the *Nuit du Code*, an international programming competition organised by the AEFE. The event will take place on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will bring together Year 11 and Year 12 students specialising in Computer Science (NSI), along with a few middle school students. In total, around twenty participants will represent the school.
The challenge? Working in teams, students will have to design a video game within a limited time, based on a theme that will remain secret until the end of the competition in early June. Creativity, logic and teamwork will all play a key role. *La Nuit du Code* is a unique experience that allows students to develop their programming skills while taking on an exciting international challenge.

Camille, a talented Year 7 student, shines a spotlight on LCS
It is with great pleasure that we announce that Camille will take part in the Hip Hop Dance World Championships, which will be held from 25 July to 1 August in Arizona, USA. This is a wonderful achievement for this passionate young artist, who will represent Australia on the international stage.
In addition, Camille also had the honour of singing the Australian national anthem at the opening of the Australian final of this competition, held last weekend in Sydney. It was a remarkable performance that once again showcased her many talents and confidence on stage. Congratulations, Camille!

Reminder: Closing Date for Applications to the Talent Identification (IT) Program
Registrations for the selection tests for the Talent Identification (IT) Program for students from Year 3 to Year 5 will close on Sunday 17 May.
The families concerned have already received an email detailing the registration procedures, participation requirements, as well as the schedule for the tests and training sessions for the 2026–2027 school year.

Registrations for the selection tests to join one of the LCS sports sections (badminton, tennis, swimming and surfing) will also close this Sunday, 17 June. These programs are designed for students who already have a strong level of sporting ability and who wish to commit to an intensive training program throughout the 2026–2027 school year.
The families concerned have also received an email containing all the practical information regarding registration, selection criteria, as well as the schedule for training sessions and assessments.

Lycée Condorcet de Sydney shines at the AICES tournament
Lycée Condorcet de Sydney once again proudly represented its colours at the prestigious AICES tournament, thanks to the outstanding performances of the teams from our CDSSA sports association, in which five of our students had been selected.
The CDSSA U18 girls delivered an outstanding performance, reaching the semi-finals after several matches played with determination and remarkable team spirit. Despite a defeat at the end of an intense game, they can be extremely proud of their performance and commitment throughout the tournament. Their fighting spirit and solidarity were praised by both supporters and coaching staff.
Another great source of pride came from the U15 boys, who brilliantly won the tournament following a series of particularly impressive performances.
Among the students who stood out during this edition, special recognition goes to Nadya, as well as the four Year 9 boys — Louis M., Louis R., Antoine and Jérémy — who represented the school brilliantly, both on the field and through their exemplary attitude.
A huge congratulations to all our students, and long live LCS!

BEHIND THE SCENES
Cendrillon à la sauce Condorcet : une représentation à ne pas manquer ce vendredi au LCS
This Friday, 15 May at 7pm, Lycée Condorcet will open the doors of its theatre for a special performance of Cinderella by Joël Pommerat, reimagined with a Condorcet twist. Directed with sensitivity and creativity by Hélène Flurin, this contemporary adaptation promises an evening that is moving, humorous, and deeply captivating.
Before its public performance, the play was presented on Tuesday morning to LCS students — and the enthusiasm was immediate. Laughter, captivated silence, amazed expressions and warm applause: the reactions were unanimous. The students were completely won over by this modern and poetic interpretation, brought to life by a dedicated cast and an outstanding collective effort.
This performance is truly worth attending. Far more than a simple retelling of the classic fairy tale, this Cinderella thoughtfully and emotionally explores themes of grief, memory and healing, while maintaining a light theatrical touch and a subtle sense of humour.
The performance is open to the public; however, due to the themes of death and grief explored in the play, it is not recommended for children under 10 years old.

In the event of a possible departure from the school, a 6-week notice period must be respected before the last day of classes, i.e. Wednesday, May 20th, 2026, in order to avoid a $400 fee. The departure form must be completed on Eduka after cancelling your child’s re-enrolment with the admissions office: inscriptions@condorcet.com.au

Monash University at LCS: Monash University, based in Melbourne, is part of the prestigious Group of Eight and ranks among the top 50 universities in the world. A presentation will be held during heure de dialogue on Wednesday 27 May. All students are welcome!
Presentation of the University of St Andrews, Scotland: The University of St Andrews is consistently ranked among the top three universities in the United Kingdom and is particularly renowned for its International Relations programs. Rich in tradition, it is the third oldest English-speaking university in the world, founded in 1410. Scottish universities offer a different approach from the rest of the UK system — come along to learn more on Monday 1 June at 12pm, venue to be confirmed.
EHL (École Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland) at LCS: The world’s leading hospitality management school, with campuses in Lausanne and Singapore, will visit LCS on Wednesday 3 June at 3pm in room D119 (see flyer). Open to all students and parents.

Women in Engineering Scholarships at the University of Sydney: The University of Sydney is investing $2 million to support young women interested in engineering, computer science or project management studies.
