✷ Save the Date ✷ Un Monde Sans Fin • 25.02 • 3:30 - 6pm • LCS Hall • All parents welcome!

Dear LCS Community,

As we prepare to unveil the EFE3D Level 3 plaque at LCS—a program by AEFE aimed at promoting sustainable practices in schools—we would like to highlight this week the commitment of our eco-committee through a wonderful initiative inspired by the graphic novel Un Monde sans Fin. Un Monde sans fin.

In resonance with the exhibition organized by the Alliance Française of Sydney around Un Monde sans fin, the LCS eco-committee, led by our teachers and involving students of all levels, is proud to bring two major initiatives to life on campus: a public speaking competition, a theater exhibition, and a selection of student works , inspired by the comic book , scheduled for February 25.

This project is inspired by the collaboration between Christophe Blain, author of the comic book (script, drawing)and Jean-Marc Jancovici, a renowned specialist in energy and climate issues (script). The exhibition, which will take place in the theater, will invite our students to explore sustainability challenges through an interactive approach.

During this event, we will also announce the winners of the Engaged Comic Strip Contest: Illustrating the Sustainable Development Goals, launched last December. This contest gives students the opportunity to express their ideas, advocate for causes they care about, and share their talent with the entire LCS community.

Participants in the public speaking competition will, in turn, be encouraged to defend their reflections and share their vision before an engaged audience.

We warmly thank our teachers, our partner the Alliance Française, and especially our students for their enthusiasm and dedication to this meaningful initiative.

We look forward to this beautiful celebration of commitment and creativity in the service of sustainable development!

Kind regards,

Message from Mr. Patrice Possenti, Principal of the Primary School:

Dear Parents,

We are thrilled to announce that our Athletic Carnival will take place on Wednesday, 16th April, at Snape Park, and we need YOU to help make it an amazing day!

This all-day event (9 AM – 2 PM) promises to be a fantastic experience for the students, filled with excitement, teamwork, and fun outdoor activities. However, to ensure the success of this event, we rely on the active involvement of our parent community.

We are looking for parent volunteers to:

• Follow a team throughout the day and cheer them on, or

• Lead an activity and bring the event to life.

Your participation is not only essential to the smooth running of the event but also a wonderful opportunity to share in the joy and energy of the day with your child and their peers.

If you’re available to help, please register no later than 24th February.

Thank you in advance for your support—we truly can’t do it without you. Let’s make this year’s Athletic Carnival an unforgettable day for everyone!

SECONDARY

🇦🇺✨ Voyage éducatif à Canberra pour les élèves de 3ème du Lycée Condorcet ✨🇫🇷

The 3eme students from Lycée Condorcet, The International French School of Sydney, undertook an education tour of the national capital to extend their knowledge and understanding of themes and topics of national, social, cultural, and historical relevance in Australia.

As part of this incredible project, the students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

Our trip to Canberra was part of a project that took a multidisciplinary approach and aligned with our school values of goodwill, respect, community, commitment and creativity. It also had meaningful curricular connections to the content covered in history, geography, French, English, science, and visual arts.

The 4-day trip incorporated and extended the curriculum in meaningful and engaging ways and significantly contributed to the skills, knowledge and understanding of Australia’s history, culture, heritage, technology, science, environment, peoples, and democracy.

The project also highlighted the interwoven history and fraternity of France and Australia; the shared values and aspirations of the two countries and their people.

Highlights of our trip included:

  • Participating in the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial,
  • Fostering meaningful connections with peers
  • And a conversation with the Honourable Matt Thistlethwaite MP, Assistant Minister for Immigration during our visit to Parliament.

We greatly appreciate the contribution provided by The Australian Government in support of this project.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the expense of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $30.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate will be paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion and has benefited the students co-payment.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this trip a memorable educational and human experience!

With nine rowers from different states, this race brought together the best young talents from around the country. Since there is no official event for under-16s at the National Championships, Luca can be considered the unofficial national champion in his category.

He raced under the colors of the Leichhardt Rowing Club for this competition, but will represent LCS at upcoming school regattas.

Relive the final moments of his race: Watch here. Bravo Luca ! 🎉

Art Exhibition by IB Year 12 Students

As every year, with the support of their teacher, Madame Mills, the IB students had the opportunity to create and present their works at an art exhibition. This project, which reflects their creativity, passion, and dedication, is the result of many hours of work and reflection.

Please note a change of date: the exhibition will take place on February 27th, one day earlier than originally planned.

We invite you to come and discover their masterpieces and celebrate together the talent and originality of our young artists at the Coma Gallery in Marickville!

Vaccination Y7.

Dear Parents,

NSW health will come to our school this year to offer our students of year 7 the chance to receive their vaccinations. This vaccination day will be held onThursday the 20th of February 2025.

If your child is in Year 7 and you would like him/her to receive this vaccination you can now provide online consent for their routine school vaccinations.

Vaccination will only be administered at the school if consent has been received.

How to give consent ?

  1. To complete online consent for your child’s school vaccinations, visit: https://nswhealth.service-now.com/school or use the QR code below
  2. Follow the steps to log in to your existing ServiceNSW account. This is the same account you may already use to renew your driver’s licence. If you don’t have a ServiceNSW account, refer to ServiceNSW to create one.
  3. Update or confirm your personal details in ServiceNSW as required.
  4. Complete the School Vaccination Consent Form for your child/ren. You will need to:
  1. Enter your child’s personal details
  2. Provide the Medicare card details for you and your child
  3. Read the linked Parent Information Sheet and privacy statement
  4. Provide consent

The benefits of providing consent online:

  1. easily update your child’s details
  2. receive SMS and/or email notifications when vaccinations are given
  3. faster upload of vaccination records to the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR)

For more information on routine school vaccinations, please visit www.health.nsw.gov.au/schoolvaccination.

Do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Isabel Jacobs et Julie Chappellaz,
Kind Regards, Isabel Jacobs and Julie Chappellaz Senior First Aid Officer LCS
