Headline

Dear LCS community,

September has been filled with highlights: Democracy Week, the interschool exchange with Reddam House, and our grand Guinguette evening, which brought together over 400 parents despite the Parisian weather. It was during this evening that we had the joy of welcoming, alongside our former president Helen Anderson, the new Parents & Friends (P&F) team. For those who were not with us, we are pleased to announce that Faïza Majeed has been elected president, Fiona Jeanney is our new treasurer, and Mia Jay Kacen now holds the position of secretary of the P&F. The association continues to bring energy and strengthen the bonds between the families of the Lycée while supporting multiculturalism and bilingualism. P&F is also committed to raising funds to support the school's initiatives, which we will unveil throughout the school year.

We also thank Mr. Jérôme Fournand, General Director of the Sydney Chamber of Commerce and partner of the LCS, who was present that evening. The Facci plays a significant role in amplifying French entrepreneurship in Australia. In this regard, dear parent entrepreneurs, we invite you to participate in the census organized by the Embassy and the Facci, contributing to strengthening Franco-Australian business relations.

Wishing everyone a restful week.

Meeting with Mr. Martin Juillard

The Year 4 and Year 5 class representatives had the opportunity to meet Mr. Martin Juillard, the Consul General of France. This moment was a wonderful opportunity for them, as new representatives of their peers, to engage with a member of the French administration and learn more about his role. An inspiring meeting that marks the beginning of their involvement in the school’s community.

B&B Highway Workshop: Raising Awareness About Biodiversity

On Thursday, two Year 3 classes took part in the “B&B Highway for Pollinators” program organised by “Planting Seeds” to learn about the importance of constructed habitats, especially for local bees.
After a short presentation, the students built shelters for blue-banded bees and created posters to encourage the protection of other species like possums and bats. The posters will serve as educational tools to raise awareness within the school and the broader community.

Well done to the students for their creativity!

Secondary

Meeting with the Consul General of France

Last week, LCS students had the honour of welcoming Mr. Juillard, the Consul General of France in Sydney, for a meeting at the school. This special moment took place in a unique context, as the elections for class representatives, the Eco-Committee, the CVC, and the CVL are currently underway. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to engage in discussions around citizenship and school democracy.

A Big Thank You to Our Student Volunteers

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the student volunteers who generously gave their time to supervise the children during the Guinguette evening. Thanks to their commitment and kindness, the younger ones were able to fully enjoy the evening safely, while the parents relaxed and appreciated the event.

Elections for Representatives and Eco-Representatives in Secondary School

This week, our secondary students campaigned to become representatives and eco-representatives. All candidates demonstrated genuine commitment and inspiring ideas to represent their peers. Today, the students cast their votes, and while we await the results, we want to congratulate them for their motivation and initiative.
