As part of the AEFE ADN Mobilité student exchange program, managed by the AGORA Monde platform, our school has once again reaffirmed its strong commitment to international exposure for our Year 11 students.
This program allows Year 11 students to experience a true immersion in another school within the AEFE network abroad, with complete reciprocity: our students go abroad while international students are hosted in our classes for the same duration. This year, our school stands out with 14 departures and 14 arrivals, one of the highest numbers in the Asia-Pacific region.
A big thank you to the school's teachers, and especially those in the three Year 11 classes, who actively contribute to the project by integrating international students into their lessons and daily school life. In class, students participated in a group brainstorming session to share their perspectives on cultural differences, expectations, and lived experiences, thus fostering dialogue and collective reflection.
The selection process is particularly rigorous due to the very large number of applications. It is based on the students' motivation, academic commitment, and ability to adapt to an international environment. The goal is to allow teenagers to engage in a concrete project that develops cultural awareness, independence, and authentic language skills.
Information regarding upcoming public holidays in New South Wales
In New South Wales, public holidays are approaching. The next one is Good Friday, on Friday 3 April 2026, marking the start of the Easter long weekend.
Here are the main confirmed public holidays for the rest of 2026:
Easter: from Friday 3 April (Good Friday) to Monday 6 April (Easter Monday), including Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday.
Anzac Day: Saturday 25 April 2026. Good news: the government has announced an additional public holiday on Monday 27 April 2026.
King’s Birthday : lundi 8 June 2026.
Labour Day: Monday 5 October 2026.
End of year: Christmas Day on Friday 25 December 2026 and Boxing Day on Saturday 26 December 2026. An additional public holiday is scheduled for Monday 28 December 2026, providing a long weekend to close out the year.

PRIMARY
Kick-off of the Inter-School Chess Championship at LCS ♟️
Students from CE1, CE2 and CM2 at Lycée Condorcet de Sydney kicked off the Inter-School Chess Championship this morning, an inter-school tournament organised in partnership with the Sydney Academy of Chess.
This event brought together 62 students from Year 1 to Year 6 representing 8 schools: Double Bay Public School, Bellevue Hill Public School, Gardeners Road Public School, McAuley Catholic Primary School, Mater Dei Catholic Primary School, Randwick Public School, St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Primary School and Lycée Condorcet.
Under the guidance of their teachers, Pierre-Gérard Boission and Lucas Espil, students develop essential skills through chess, such as concentration, strategic thinking, patience and respect for their opponent.
For its very first participation, the Lycée Condorcet chess club, established last January, made a strong impression by securing an outstanding 2nd place out of 8 teams.
Individually, Alexi placed 4th out of 62 students, while Liv and Hector were recognised as the school’s top players.
The next competition will take place at LCS on May 27.
Crazy day – Imaginary ocean
Le vendredi 10 avril prochain se tiendra le Athletic Carnival des classes primaires, ainsi que le traditionnel Crazy Day précédant les vacances, placé cette fois-ci sous le thème de l’imaginaire océanique.

The Astrolabe Project: an inspiring encounter around science and the southern territories
As part of the Astrolabe project, our Year 9 students had the opportunity to meet high school students engaged in an ambitious scientific approach, focused on environmental challenges and the southern territories.
The Astrolabe project is a scientific initiative supported and funded by the French Embassy in Canberra, carried out in partnership with the Lycée Franco-Australian of Canberra (LFAC). It is aimed at Year 9 students from both the French and Australian sections, based at Telopea Park School and Narrabundah College, and offers an interdisciplinary approach focused on themes related to Antarctica and the French Southern Territories, in connection with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Working in teams, students design and develop a scientific project which they then present to a jury. This year, the most accomplished projects earned their authors a memorable experience in Sydney.
We were delighted to welcome 13 Year 10 students from the Lycée Franco-Australian of Canberra, accompanied by their teachers, as part of this visit. As winners of the Astrolabe project, they enjoyed two enriching days in Sydney, including visits to the Maritime Museum and UNSW, focused on climate research, before presenting their work to our Year 9 students. This exchange provided a valuable opportunity to share ideas and experiences between the French and Australian sections, while inspiring our students as they look ahead to their future scientific projects.

Midday Concert – Celebrating Our Students
Our lunchtime concert series gives students the opportunity to build confidence, share their talents, and strengthen the school community through music, in a relaxed and pressure-free environment.
Congratulations and thank you to the following students who performed on Friday, April 27. All worked hard to prepare their pieces, and we commend them for their courage. Our Year 5 students: Harper, Pablo, Louis and Luis; our Year 6 students: Estelle, Tiffany, Maya, Isabella and Leanore. We look forward to attending the next concert in early June.

LCS SPORT
CAPB 2026 Shanghai
The week from March 23 to March 28 was marked by our sports section’s trip to China to take part in the 9th Asia-Pacific Badminton Cup. 4 days of competition and 3 different tournaments in an effort to bring a medal back to LCS, but also to challenge themselves and to experience and share powerful emotions through badminton. The students enjoyed a week rich in emotions, marked by sharing and discovery.
They had the opportunity to meet nine-time French Badminton Champion and world medalist Brice Leverdez, and then discovered the splendor of Shanghai’s economic center during a cruise along the Bund. They were able to connect and make new friends among the 12 delegations represented, including Bali, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Beijing, Phnom Penh, Bangkok, Phuket, Eurocampus, Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, and of course Shanghai, which welcomed us across its two campuses of the Lycée Français.
In terms of results, the Sydney students proved to be true competitors on the court. They won several individual medals during the mixed tournament across all delegations. Collette and Neo won gold, while Louise O., Angèle, Nefeli, and Tilly earned bronze. In team events, the U15 and U19 teams were eliminated in the round of 16, but the U13 team secured a bronze medal in the team tournament! A very strong result, with great potential for the future and a remarkable team spirit.

CAPN 2026 Singapor
CAPN 2026, held in Singapore, will be remembered as a landmark edition for the Lycée Condorcet Sydney delegation. With outstanding performances and exemplary team spirit, our swimmers exceeded all expectations.
In total, the delegation won 28 podium finishes: 8 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 11 bronze medals, results that highlight their ability to perform at the highest level in a particularly competitive environment. The girls and boys dominated with authority, reaching numerous finals and podiums, with special mention to the Minimes girls who confirmed the quality of the training and work carried out throughout the season. The future also looks very promising: swimmers in the Avenir category reached many A and B finals, demonstrating strong potential for what lies ahead. This success also rests on the exemplary leadership of captains Roger, Karim, Valentina, and Emmeline, whose dedication helped unite and support the entire team before and after each race. All 25 swimmers contributed to this collective achievement through their commitment, solidarity, and team spirit.
This 2nd place overall, far from guaranteed at the outset, takes on its full meaning: despite a significant challenge on paper, the swimmers rose to the occasion both in and out of the water. Beyond the results, this competition will remain a powerful human and sporting experience, reflecting collective effort, strong cohesion, and shared values. Congratulations to all the swimmers for this outstanding achievement!

🏉 Podium pour le LCS au championnat AICES Touch Rugby
La semaine dernière, le championnat de touch rugby AICES s’est tenu à Penrith, réunissant les meilleures équipes scolaires de la région.
Nos trois élèves du LCS — Hugo, Hector et Jordi — ont fièrement représenté notre établissement au sein de l’équipe U15 garçons de la CDSSA, encouragés par Scott Lavaud. Après une belle journée de compétition, la CDSSA décroche une superbe 2e place, juste derrière HRIS. Une performance qui reflète leur engagement et leur esprit d’équipe. Ce résultat s’inscrit dans la dynamique récente de l’intégration du LCS au programme AICES via la CDSSA, ouvrant de nouvelles opportunités à nos élèves.

🏊♂️ LCS Swimming: AICES & CIS Selection
The LCS swimming team recently competed at the AICES Championships at Sydney Olympic Park, a valuable experience in a highly competitive environment. Despite conditions differing from those encountered at CAPN in Singapore the previous week, our swimmers showed strong commitment and professionalism, proudly representing the school.
Strong team results are worth highlighting, with a 3rd place finish for CDSSA, along with several notable individual performances, including a special mention for Benjamin, who achieved five personal bests in five events. The relay teams also demonstrated excellent team spirit. We also congratulate Colette, Augustin, and Michael on their selection for the CIS Championships (May 4–5, 2026), recognising their hard work and progress.

Concours Castor Informatique : félicitations à nos élèves
Tous nos élèves de collège ont récemment participé au concours Castor Informatique, une compétition internationale ludique qui permet de découvrir les bases de l’informatique et de la pensée algorithmique à travers des défis interactifs. Nous saluons l’engagement et la curiosité de l’ensemble des participants, qui ont su faire preuve de réflexion, de rigueur et de persévérance.
Une récompense a été attribuée aux élèves ayant obtenu les meilleurs résultats dans chaque niveau, avec une carte cadeau cinéma de 30 $ : Daniel en 6e, Constant en 5e, Joachim en 4e et Noa en 3e. Bravo à tous pour votre participation, et félicitations aux lauréats pour leur excellente performance !

`Curtain falls on *The Sun King*, LCS’s musical comedy`
After many weeks of hard work, intense rehearsals, and mixed emotions, the curtain fell one final time on The Sun King, our musical of the year. And what a show! The final performance was worthy of this remarkable journey: brilliant, moving, and carried by a troupe of students whose talent is matched only by their dedication. Confident voices, measured gestures, generous energy — each gave their very best to bring to life, before the audience’s eyes, a moment of pure grace.
From backstage to the stage, this was no mere undertaking, but the birth of a true troupe, united by effort, passion, and a spirit of camaraderie. Together, they moved, surprised, and delighted, reminding us that art, when shared, uplifts the soul. Warm congratulations to all who contributed to this success: actors, singers, dancers, musicians, masters of shadow and light, as well as the teaching and technical teams, whose dedication never wavered.
And how could we not offer our sincere thanks to those who, through their faithful presence, constant support, and kindness, carried this project with such generosity? Three years, three musicals: this is a legacy that now stands the test of time. Let us extend a special thought to Charlotte Launay and Magali Metrat, who once kindled the very first spark of this wonderful journey.

We have two important university visits scheduled for the first week of June—please mark your calendars:
University of St Andrews (Scotland): Currently ranked No. 2 in the United Kingdom by The Guardian, it will give an in-person presentation at 12:00 pm (during lunch) on Monday, June 1. All students and parents are invited. Scottish degree programs last 4 years and allow students to explore different subjects before confirming their specialization.
EHL (École Hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland): Ranked No. 1 in the world for hospitality management, with a second campus in Singapore, EHL will visit LCS on Wednesday, June 3 during the advisory period. All students and parents are welcome.
