LCS RAFFLE - YEAR 12 GALA
Our Year 12 students and the Gala Committee are currently organising a number of different fundraising activities to save up for their graduation party: the Year 12 Gala! One of the activities is a huge raffle for the entire LCS community. Plenty of community members have already pitched in with their time and with prizes and the raffle now includes prizes worth up to $9000. The students wish to thank you kindly for your help! You can purchase the raffle tickets online via a link that will be sent out by the Gala Committee this Thursday, May 26. Thank you again to all those who are helping the students make this Gala a memorable evening to mark the end of their time at secondary school and at LCS.
THANKS TO THE SPONSORS OF THE RAFFLE
During the Year 5 in Year 6 Day on June 6th, During the Year 5 in Year 6 Day on June 6, our Year 5 students will spend a day in junior secondary school.
Throughout the day, our grade 6 children, with the help of the teachers, will run workshops to help prepare the younger students for next year when they will begin Secondary School. The workshops include Scratch programming, Origami, the Trojan Wolf game, reading stories, and so on. The day is part of our Year 6 students’ global citizenship training, as well as a day to look back on what they have learnt in their first year of ‘Collège’ and to pass these skills and knowledge onto younger students.
For our Year 5s, it gives them an insight into what is to come next year - they get to know both the teachers and the secondary school classrooms - hopefully making the step a little less intimidating.
Last week, our students drew inspiration from their class reading to build incredible things using Kapla.
The second graders, for example, were inspired by the book The Wolf Who Travels Back in Time and created futuristic rocket ramps and mediaeval castles.
In kindergarten, students built pyramids after having studied Ancient Egypt. The children were very excited to have their parents come in and see their work last week - thanks for coming!
