SCHOOL ZONE SAFETY
In the last couple of weeks, NSW Roads and Maritime Services traffic authorities have been present monitoring the school zone. The reason for their presence is due to reports of illegal parking in nearby residential driveways and double-parking causing traffic jams and congestion in the school zone.
The school zone is a shared public area and is used not only by the LCS community but also by our neighbouring school and residential communities. As this is a shared public area all members of all communities are expected to always abide by the rules of the NSW Roads and Maritime Services. LCS has no influence or authority over the rules for use of a public Area. In the interests of the safety of our children, parents and carers, here are some reminders and guidelines to help you and your children stay safe in your daily commutes to and from school.
PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF ZONE
All school zones during certain times, have reduced speed limits which apply, rules about drop-off, pick-up and parking rules. These all exist to keep children, parents and carers safe and are in place to minimise speed, traffic jams and parking issues around schools.
SCHOOL TRANSPORT OPTIONS
You may want to consider walking, cycling, or catching public transport with your children to school. Driving your children to school each day could mean they miss out on exercise and other life skills.
RUN&ZAP CHALLENGE: ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET.. MOVE!
It's almost time! Starting from this Saturday, 28 November, you will be able to fill in this form every day to help increase the tally by running, walking and swimming! Together, students, parents and staff as well as other AEFE schools in the Asia-Pacific region will be doing a tour around the world together, that is, 40 000km! Our friend (and idol) Marie Leautey will be the ambassador of the challenge, and what a great ambassodr! Marie has just finished her tour of the world running a marathon a day(!), six days per week for 2.5 years. Some of you will remember that some LCS students and community members joined Marie on the last leg of her 2.5 year run which ended at the Sydney Opera House in August.

SCIENCE FAIR
The Science Fair in France began in 1991 and is a yearly even organised by higher education, research and innovation institutions in France. It is a popular event that allows students to discover different areas of science and to get to know the scientists at the forefront of innovation today.
Secondary students and their teachers organised a number of games and activities that the whole school was welcome to come and discover. The day was full of experiments, technology and projects that make you think. Thank you to everyone who participated, we're already looking forward to seeing what next year's Science Fair has in store for us.
