A message From LCS

Dear Parents,

The first stage of the exchange program with Lycée Condorcet de Sydney and Lycée Montaigne de Bordeaux is now coming to an end.

Nine of our year 10 students have just completed their five-week stay with a host family in Bordeaux attending Lycée Montaigne, during which they had some great new experiences, gained a better understanding of how a school works in France and made many cultural discoveries thanks to the links they established with their exchange partners.

The exchange students will be landing in Sydney soon, and we look forward to welcoming them from the 13th of March for five weeks. We would like to thank the parents and host families involved in this project.

Another aspect of our partnership with the Lycée Montaigne is to be able to offer students the opportunity to understand more about the system of preparatory schools in France, a complex system that does not quite have an equivalent in Australia. The Principal of Lycée Montaigne, Mr. Laurent Verreckt, presented the preparatory school system, you can find the presentation  here.

Thank you, have a great week.

Nicolas l’Hotellier,

Principal

Assembly

This morning our year 1, 2 and 3 students had a trial Assembly! A first for them here at Lycée Condorcet, and tomorrow it will be the year 4 and 5 students’ turn. The students sang the national anthems, got an update and a demo on the APQs (Daily Physical Activity), and Rocky Bay - an area in the Anzac Parade courtyard that will be getting a makeover - and we heard from Melodie in Year 2 D / CE1Disco who spoke about a famous person the students had been learning about in class; the one and only Marie Curie!

Short and sweet, the students enjoyed their first LCS Assembly.

Secondary

Shout Out to the World

On February 1st, 2023, LCS year 8 students performed their self-devised plays focussing on a social, environmental or political area of concern. The goal was to use the medium of theatre to bring awareness and understanding for their chosen issues: pollution in the oceans, gender stereotypes, addiction, the rights of children and girls, the drug trade, financial inequality, refugees, and police brutality.

Thank you to all the students for sharing your thought-provoking work with us, and thank you to the teachers for helping make this possible: Ms Delor, Mr Bagnis, Ms François, Ms Builles, Ms Du Mesnil, Mr Perreau, Ms Halter, Ms Cornish, Mr Coppock and Ms Altshuler.
